GEORGE TOWN: A car wash worker and a Myanmar chef charged with kidnapping a 20-year-old Myanmar man escaped the gallows when the charge against the worker was withdrawn while the chef was sentenced to six years’ jail.
The charge against H.K. Barathidas, 22, was withdrawn in the High Court yesterday and he was released while V. Dass, 21, admitted to a reduced charge of kidnapping and wrongfully confining Thar Nge at a car wash in Tasek Gelugor at about 9.30am on Jan 26 last year.
