Probe into collapse of eatery that left 29 dead

BEIJING: The Work Safety Committee of China’s State Council will supervise a probe into a restaurant collapse in northern Shanxi province that caused 29 deaths, the committee said in a statement.

The accident happened at around 9:40am on Saturday when relatives and villagers were at the birthday party banquet for an 80-year-old person at a restaurant in Chenzhuang village in Xiangfen county, in the city of Linfen in Shanxi province, witnesses said.
