Japan may call new state of emergency, virus response chief warns; Emperor's New Year's greeting cancelled due to pandemic


TOKYO, Nov 28 (dpa): Japan has cancelled Emperor Naruhito's New Year's greetings at the Imperial Palace to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Imperial Household Agency shas announced.

The cancellation of the annual event on Jan 2,2021, comes at a time when Japan is struggling to deal with recent spikes of new virus infections.
