BEIJING, June 1: The US has used Denmark's secret service to spy on leaders of many European countries including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, European media revealed on Sunday.

Denmark is a close ally of the US. According to media reports, Denmark hosts several key landing stations for subsea internet cables to and from Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
