Brunei: Man gets fined RM135,000 for hiding smuggled cigarettes in school auditorium


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug 7 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): A 41-year-old permanent resident man who stored smuggled cigarettes at a school where he worked, was ordered to settle a BND43,000 (RM135,0000) fine by the Magistrate’s Court in the capital.

Acting Senior Magistrate Kamaliah Fadhilah Ibrahim ordered on Thursday (Aug 5) Tan Chee Ann to serve 15 months’ jail in default of payment after pleading guilty to the illegal possession of 50 cartons and 39 packets of smuggled cigarettes at the auditorium of a school in Belait District.
