SOME young Indonesians are abandoning comfortable desk-bound jobs in the city to toil on the land as farmers.
In tourism hot spot Bali, Agung Wedhatama, who has a master’s degree in information technology, decided to do so in 2013 when he was 29, leaving behind the IT business that he had set up. He started by producing organic fertilisers and then went on to plant ginger, chilli and fruits for domestic and overseas markets under a new company, PT Wedhatama Sukses Makmur.
