MANILA, Oct 1 (dpa): Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao on Friday filed paperwork confirming his candidacy for president of the Philippines, becoming the first politician to officially state that he is running for the top post in elections next year.
Pacquiao, 42, who is currently a senator, vowed to battle poverty and corruption and resolve the coronavirus pandemic if he wins the election and becomes president.
