Heavy rain damages thousands of historical sites in Shanxi, northern China


At least 1,763 heritage sites have been destroyed in the northern Chinese province of Shanxi after torrential rain earlier this month that left 15 people dead.

Shanxi has been dubbed as the country’s ancient building museum because it has more historical sites than any other province, a total of 19,000 buildings in total were destroyed during the downpour.
