Seven die after drinking tainted alcohol at Covid-19 quarantine centre in Cambodia, confirms health spokesman


PHNOM PENH, Nov 13 (Xinhua): At least seven people have died and 18 others are hospitalized after drinking alcohol containing high levels of methanol at a Covid-19 quarantine centre in northwestern Cambodia's Banteay Meanchey province, a health spokesman said on Friday (Nov 12).

The victims, who are labourers returning from Thailand and have been placed under quarantine at a center in Poipet City, consumed the tainted alcohol during a gathering on Wednesday evening and developed symptoms such as eye irritation, chest pain, breathing difficulty, dizziness, headache, and coma on the next day.
