United Nations: Number of internally displaced people in Myanmar doubles in year

YANGON, Feb 13 (dpa): The number of people internally displaced in Myanmar has doubled to around 800,000 within a span of a year, the UN Refugee Agency said in Geneva over the weekend.

The majority of the displaced population is reliant on UN humanitarian assistance for survival, the agency said, adding the dire situation was only expected to worsen.
