Laos: Heavy rain and flood causes havoc in Vangvieng district near Vientiane during the weekend


VIENTIANE, Feb 22 (Vientiane Times/ANN): Two footbridges across the Xong River leading to Tham Chang and Tham Lom caves in Vangvieng district, Vientiane province, collapsed on Sunday when the level of the river rose following heavy rain.

Huts and makeshift shops on the riverbank also suffered flood damage, with some flimsy structures being brought to the ground.
