Japan provides US$5mil for UXO clearance


Unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance in Laos will be accelerated now that the government of Japan has provided equipment to train future UXO clearance personnel and support further clearance activities, worth about US$5mil (RM21mil).

Exchange notes between Laos and Japan agreeing to the scheme were signed in Vientiane on Friday by Laos’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune and the Ambassador of Japan to Laos, Kenichi Kobayashi.
