VIENTIANE, May 15: Thai newscaster Sophon Ong-karn has apologised for a gaffe during live television on Saturday night (May 14) during which he failed to recognise the Prime Minister of Laos, Phankham Viphavanh, reports Laotian Times.

The incident occurred during a broadcast of the News Hour program on Thai News 1 as newscasters discussed the US-Asean Special Summit.
