Coronavirus: No need for Hong Kong to tighten Covid curbs despite rebound in cases, medical experts say

Hong Kong need not tighten Covid-19 restrictions despite infections rising above 800 a day, local medical experts have said, as the rebound in cases is still considered mild.

Dr Gilman Siu Kit-hang of Polytechnic University on Monday revealed that the more worrying Omicron subvariants BA.4 or BA.5 were still behind other strains in distant fifth and sixth places in recently documented imported infections. The pair potentially have a higher ability to evade vaccine protection.
