MANILA (The Straits Times/Asia News Network):- For two years, Filipino grade school pupil Apple Desilos, 10, had to juggle taking care of her baby brother and studying at home when Covid-19 forced Philippine schools to close.

Her mother, a baker in a restaurant, and her father, an administrative worker, would help tutor her after knocking off.
