Vietnam's foreign trade up 15.5 per cent on year in eight months


HANOI, Aug. 30 (Xinhua): Vietnam posted an estimated foreign trade value of US$497.64 billion in the first eight months of this year, up 15.5 per cent year on year, with a trade surplus of 3.96 billion dollars, the General Statistics Office said Tuesday.

Specifically, the export revenue stood at 250.8 billion dollars, up 17.3 percent, while the import revenue increased 13.6 per cent year on year to 246.84 billion dollars.

The United States remained Vietnam's biggest importer with turnovers of US$77.7 billion, and China was its largest exporter with turnovers of US$82.1 billion over the period, according to the office. - Xinhua
