Cambodia civil servants set to receive 50K riel bonus for festival

PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/Asia News Network): The government has announced it will grant 50,000 riel to each civil servant, contracted officer, retiree of all kinds and officers of the Armed Forces on the occasion of the Pchum Ben (Ancestors Day) festival. This year’s festival will run from Sept 24-26.

According to a decision signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen and published on Sept 13, the release of the subsidy will be implemented before Pchum Ben. A similar bonus will also be paid on Khmer New year.
