Brunei's inflation index increases 4.5 per cent in August


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 15 (Xinhua): Brunei's overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August increased by 4.5 percent year-on-year, the highest hike for at least a year, the latest statistical figures released on Thursday showed.

According to the country's Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the CPI rise was in line with the increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages and non-food indices by 7.0 percent and 3.9 percent, respectively.
