South Korea to give full support to Laos in aviation safety


VIENTIANE, Nov 12 (Vientiane Tmes): The safety and security of aviation in Laos will be improved through the Airside Safety and Aviation Security Training Programme supported by South Korea.

A training session in Vientiane was hosted by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Vientiane, and organised by Dohwa Engineering Co., Ltd. and the Korea Airports Corporation.

The session was attended by the Director General of KOTRA Vientiane, Pilseong Kim; Deputy Director General of the DCA, Vixay Bouavanh; Senior Director of Dohwa Engineering Co., Ltd., Dong Woon Jung; officials and lecturers, and 44 trainees from the Department of Civil Aviation, Lao Airports Authority and other relevant organisations.

The programme was developed by Dohwa Engineering Co., Ltd. and the Korea Airports Corporation to accelerate cooperation between Laos and the Republic of Korea in the field of aviation and airport operation.

Dohwa Engineering Co., Ltd. took part in various airport construction projects including Incheon International Airport Project (Phases 2 and 3) as a construction management service provider.

The Korea Airports Corporation, established under the Korea Airports Corporation Law of the Republic of Korea, is operating 14 airports in Korea.

It also has its own Aviation Security Training Centre authorised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

Dohwa Engineering Co., Ltd. and the Korea Airports Corporation have been collaborating to strengthen partnership with aviation authorities in Laos, especially through a feasibility study for the upgrade of Luang Prabang International Airport.
