Insein court sentences actress Thinzar Wint Kyaw to five-year prison term


YANGON (Eleven Media Group/Asia News Network): Actress and model Thinzar Wint Kyaw(pic), who was charged with Section 33(a) of the Electronic Transactions Law, has been sentenced to five years in prison by Insein Prison Special Court, according to sources close to the police.

Ye Yint Moe, a person close to actress and model Thinzar Wint Kyaw, wrote on his Facebook account on Dec 23, "I will do a lot of good deeds and pray for her release as soon as possible. I will be with you in happy times and sad times, so stay healthy, my love, I love you so much."

Similarly, model Nang Mwe San was sentenced to six years in prison under Section 33(a) of the Electronic Transactions Law on Sept 27, according to people close to the police.

According to the press release of State Administration Council (SAC), a case has been opened against actor and model Thinzar Wint Kyaw and model Nang Mwe San for receiving payment and distributing sexually suggestive photos and videos through social networks.

According to the press release, Thinzar Wint Kyaw opened an account in the name of Thinzar Wint Kyaw to post sexually oriented photos and video files for a fee on a pornographic website run by a resident of the United States, with the help of model Shin Yoon Myat, around August 2021.

Thinzar Wint Kyaw has been receiving money for sexually oriented photos and videos to post on the website since Aug 20, 2021, it said.

According to the report, Nang Mwe San had been paid for sexually oriented photos and videos to be posted on the website from around September 2020, with a help from a person working in the trade of beauty products made in India, it said.

In addition, she contacted him again and sent and posted sexually oriented photos and video files on the website from January 2021, according to the statement.
