BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec 26 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Continuous heavy rain over the past days has continued to wreak havoc in the daily lives of village residents.

On Sunday (Dec 25), in Kampong Jangsak, near the Jalan Gadong-Jalan Tutong T-Junction, at least three cars were damaged and left on the side of the road. In Kampong Tanjung Bunut, a saloon car turned turtle yesterday morning, and paramedics were seen helping an injured person.

Meanwhile, other residents in Mukim Kilanas said they had parked cars on the road to avoid floodwaters affecting their homes.

Residents in Kampong Bengkurong and Kilanas Ban areas described the mishap as extraordinary as they had never experienced such a magnitude of flooding before.

In Kampong Tanah Jambu, a section of road was submerged under water as a result of the continuous heavy rain in the area in the past several days.

Heavy rains had affected multiple areas in the country including Kuala Belait, Kampong Dadap and Kampong Subok.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) issued a high tide warning, expecting levels to reach between 2.4 metres to 2.9 metres from today until tomorrow.

Debris and rubbish were washed up on Serasa Beach on Sunday following the high tide, creating an eyesore.

In an advisory, the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) urged motorists to park their vehicle away from low lying areas, to stay alert while fishing near the beach, to ensure outdoor activities are carried out on higher ground and to remain vigilant of any sign of flooding. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
