Myanmar holds friendly basketball competition to mark CNY


YANGON (Xinhua): A friendly basketball competition, to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, is being held in Yangon, Myanmar from Jan 8-17, 2023.

Speaking at the event, U Aik Htun the president of the Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce (MCCOC), the organiser of the event, said the competition will help promote mutual friendship between the two countries.

"Sport will help improve health and physical fitness as well as sports activities are an exchange of culture and entertainment," he said, adding that basketball will help develop sportsmanship, unity and cooperation among the players.

U Maung Maung Myint, vice president of the Myanmar Basketball Federation, said the competition sponsored by MCCOC will assist the development of basketball in Myanmar.

More than 200 basketball players from across the country are participating in the competition.
