BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): The Ministry of Education, through the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE), coordinated the participation of students and teachers at the 12th Online Asean+3 Student Camp for the Gifted in Science and 14th Online Asean+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science.
It was held for five days from Jan 7 to 8 and Jan 13 to 15.
The Sultanate was represented by six students divided into two teams.
Team A was represented by Awangku Md Aiman Bashyir Mas Zaimuliani, Joshua Hung Ji Chien and Lee Jing Jing, while Team B comprised Ting Pei Tong, Rabi’atul Nur Qistina Aqilah Juperi and Arsh Hannan Qays Suhardy.
The programmes were themed ‘Learning Together through Online Inquiry’ and ‘Preparing Students for the Future’ respectively.
Both teams won the bronze medal for Best Presentation, while Team A also received the Cultural Night Award.
In the individual category, Ting was the recipient of the Outstanding Student Award and Joshua Hung Ji Chien with the Mascot Contest Award.
Throughout the programme, students took part in activities, such as listening to speeches, attending lectures and discussions for presentations.
Teachers also had the opportunity to attend seminars, discussions and briefed on new ideas on education while establishing a network with other educators.
The students also participated in a pre-camp programme 2nd Global Online Science Camp – held online last year where they won gold medals both individually and as a group.
