Over 10 million stimulant tablets seized in eastern Myanmar; durgs street worth almost US$2mil


YANGON, March 11 (Xinhua): Myanmar authorities have seized 10.17 million stimulant tablets in the eastern Shan state, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control has announced.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a 12-wheeled truck in Tachilek town of Shan state on March 4 and confiscated the narcotic drugs in bags, the statement said.

The seized narcotics are worth over 4 billion kyats (over US$1.9 million), it said.

Initial investigation showed the drugs were transported from Mongpyin town to Tachilek in Shan state.

Two suspects were charged in the case as further investigation was underway. Enditem
