Cambodia promotes sports tourism ahead of SEA Games

PHNOM PENH, March 13 (Bernama-VNA): Cambodia is stepping up sports tourism as part of its Visit Cambodia Year 2023 campaign as it gears up to host the SEA Games and the Asean Para Games for the first time in May and June.

Prak Vuthy, director of the Ministry of Tourism’s overseas marketing and promotion department, said both events are expected to attract between 250,000 and 500,000 international tourists.

The 32nd SEA Games will take place from May 5 to 17, followed by the 12th ASEAN Para Games from June 3 to 9.

Cambodia annually hosts many sporting events that lure visitors worldwide, including the Angkor Half Marathon in December and Ultra-Trail Angkor in February, and various international cycling events, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported, citing the official.

He added that the nation’s southern coastline is also perfect for water activities, including sailing and yachting. - Bernama
