Brunei school term ends on high note as students celebrate UN English Language Day

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 4 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait (CHMS KB) student ended the school term on a high note on Saturday, celebrating with activities held in conjunction with the United Nations (UN) English Language Day.

The UN English Language Day is celebrated annually every April 23.

Around 500 students, along with teachers, staff, parents and guardians turned up in costumes and took part in an array of activities.

This included word association games, a spelling bee, tongue twister challenges, trivia games and an escape room.

Around 95 students across all levels also participated in a costume contest.

A book sale featuring new and pre-owned English novels was also held, along with other book-related items such as bookmarks.

The school hoped that the day’s programme helped the students to spend their last day of the school term appreciating the importance of language learning and encouraging people to improve their English language skills while making learning fun and engaging.
