Myanmar exports over 16,000 tonnes of shrimps in 2022-23 fiscal year

YANGON (Xinhua): Myanmar exported 16,050 tonnes of shrimps in the 2022-2023 fiscal year, earning US$56.647 million, the country's fishery department said on Wednesday (April 19).

The country's 2022-23 fiscal year started on April 1 last year and ended on March 31 this year. The figure was up compared to 14,116 tonnes of shrimps exported during the 2021-2022 fiscal year, official data showed.

During the period, the country exported over 14,929.95 tonnes of shrimps via sea routes and nearly 1,120.818 tons via land borders, the figures showed.

Myanmar has exported shrimps to countries including China, Australia, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, and some European countries as well.

The South-East Asian country exported marine products including fish and shrimps worth $765.947 million during the 2022-23 fiscal year, the official data showed.
