Robber takes nearly 80mil kyats from gold shop in jewellery market

YANGON (Eleven Media Group/Asia News Network): Nearly 80 million kyats were robbed at a gold shop opened in the Win Thukha Yadanar gold and jewellery market in Yangyi Aung Ward, Ye City on the morning of June 13, according to locals.

A resident said that a man who got out of a car broke into and robbed a gold shop called Ngwe Lamin in the Win Thukha Yadanar gold and jewellery market, at around 8am on June 13.

He continued, "A car had been parked near the gold market since morning. At that time, there was a blackout. While it was still dark, a man got out of the car and entered the gold shop near the entrance of the gold and jewellery market. Out of the three money bags, one bag was taken. We know that nearly 80 million kyats were robbed."

According to a gold shop owner in the market, this is the first time that a gold shop inside the Win Thukha Yadanar gold and jewellery market in Ye City had been robbed.
