Indonesian govt will continue to pay for Covid-19 vaccine and treatment

JAKARTA, June 25 (Vietnam News/ANN): The Indonesian government will continue to pay for Covid-19 vaccination and treatment, spokesperson for the country’s Covid-19 task force, Wiku Adisasmitos has announced.

The statement came a day after Indonesia declared an end to the pandemic status for Covid-19 after most Indonesians had developed antibodies against the virus.

Government data shows 86.87% of the targeted 234.6 million people have got their first Covid-19 dose, and about 74.54 % have received their second dose.

The vaccination rate for the third dose stood at 38.01%, and Indonesia still needs to work on this, Wiku said.

Indonesia's medical experts have also urged people to take care of their own health as well as those around them, reiterating the government's recommendation to use masks if they feel unwell, or pose any chance of spreading Covid-19 through coughing or sneezing.

On June 21, Indonesia's state health insurance company BPJS Kesehatan announced that it will continue to pay treatment costs for National Health Insurance (JKN) participants infected with Covid-10. - Vietnam News/ANN
