Asean sec-gen to attend Maybank's training centre launch in Cambodia

JAKARTA, June 26 (Bernama): Asean secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn will attend the official launching of the Maybank Silk Weaving Training Centre in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Asean Secretariat in a statement noted Dr Kao’s two-day visit starting Tuesday in response to the invitation of chairman of Maybank Group and Maybank Foundation Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa.

"The centre is expected to allow more women the opportunity to learn practical weaving skills and attend capacity building trainings to help them improve the quality of their lives,” the secretariat noted.

During the visit, Dr Kao is scheduled for a meeting with Cambodia Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn.

He will also spend time at the Asean Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC) in Phnom Penh, about 50 kilometres from Siem Reap.
