Myanmar sees 484-per cent rise in tourist arrivals in H1

YANGON (Xinhua): Myanmar welcomed a total of 455,301 tourists in the first half of 2023, up 484 per cent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

Official figures suggested that tourist arrivals in Myanmar have increased significantly over the year, as 77,943 tourists arrivals were recorded during the period of January and June 2022.

More tourists are expected in the Southeast Asian nation in the coming months as it has lifted Covid-19 restrictions for international travellers, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Hotels and Tourism U Hla Myint told Xinhua.
