BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) is committed to promote the economic and trade cooperation between China and South-East Asian countries.
A top Brunei official said that all parties will work together more closely towards a common goal, the pursuit of the promotion of trade, investment, economic exchange and cooperation, energy, knowledge, agriculture and agrifood, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
NCCIBD Deputy Secretary-General Abdul Halim Saim said this at the 5th China – South-East Asia Business Forum, in Kunming, China. The forum is held until August 20.
He said the forum hopes to further advance partnership, support and cooperation.
Abdul Hamil added that the theme ‘Strengthen the resilience and cooperation of regional industrial chains and promote regional economic cooperation and integration’, aims at contributing to the innovation and expansion of regional economic development and cooperation by strengthening the resilience and cooperation of regional industrial chains while jointly looking forward to the bright future of regional cooperation and development.
“We would like to see the joint efforts for building a long-term and strategic partnership and interest for both parties, ensuring the success of the One Belt, One Road initiative,” he said.
Meanwhile the forum organiser said, in light of the robust advancement of economic and commercial collaboration between China-Southeast Asian countries, the China-South-East Asia Business Forum was established as an important platform to address the prevailing inclination within the business community in various countries of the region.
Such forum also will enhance collaboration and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes, to implement and execute the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, and to further promote the economic and trade cooperation with South-East Asian countries.
Four sessions have been held since 2017 through the collaborative endeavours of the government of Yunnan Province, the ASEAN-China Centre and other stakeholders.
The utilisation of the platform emerged as a means for chambers of commerce and organisations from countries in the region to fulfill their functional responsibilities, including facilitating collaboration among parties in the domains of trade, investment and innovation. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
