Hong Kong driver dies after getting hit by crane truck while out of car near Tai Lam Tunnel

A driver was killed near Hong Kong’s Tai Lam Tunnel early on Monday morning after getting hit by a crane truck while his vehicle was parked at a lay-by, leading to the partial closure of the New Territories crossing during rush hour.

The Kowloon-bound lane of the tunnel in Pat Heung was closed off, according to the Transport Department at 8am. A one-tube, two-way traffic arrangement was implemented, with motorists advised to drive through the area with “utmost care and patience”.

Two private vehicles had earlier collided at around 6.30am, about 50 metres from the tunnel entrance as they were heading towards Kowloon after passing toll booths.
