One killed, four injured in heavy weapon attack in Myanmar


YANGON (Xinhua): One person was killed and four others injured in a heavy weapon attack in eastern Myanmar's Shan State on Wednesday (Aug 30), the State Administration Council's Information Team reported.

According to the council's information team, the explosive assault carried out by Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) hit Nantphatkar village of Kutkai township in northern Shan State at around 10.30am local time on Wednesday.

The victim was a 16-year-old female, and the injured included three males and one female, the council's statement said.

The injured were sent to the Kutkai General Hospital and military medical centres for treatment, it said.

Security personnel were taking necessary measures to reinforce territorial security and control in the area, it said.
