Vietnam to further affirm proactive and effctive contribution at 43rd Asean Summit

HANOI (Bernama-VNA): Vietnam will continue to affirm its proactive, positive, and effective contributions to the regional development at the upcoming 43rd Asean Summit and Related Meetings.

Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will lead the country's high-level delegation to the meetings at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, reported Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

The events will take place in Jakarta from Tuesday (Sept 4), marking the culmination of Indonesia's Asean chairmanship in 2023.

In line with the theme "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth," the summit provides an opportunity for Asean leaders to discuss and chart the directions for strengthening the Asean Community and making the bloc the focal point of growth amidst the complexities and changes in the current global and regional landscape.

In an interview with VNA’s correspondents in Jakarta, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to Asean, Ambassador Nguyen Hai Bang, stated that amid the multidimensional challenges in the region and the world this year, ASEAN remains united and reaffirms its identity.

The diplomat noted that Vietnam wants to convey the message of solidarity and determination to make substantial and effective contributions to building the Asean Community.

This underscores the consistent approach of the Vietnamese Party and State, which views Asean as an integral part of its foreign policy.
