Myanmar's foreign trade totals over US$15bil in April-September

YANGON (Xinhua): Myanmar's foreign trade exceeded US$15.98 billion in value in the first six months of the 2023-24 fiscal year through next March, according to figures released by the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday (Oct 11).

The figure was compared to over $16.98 billion registered a year earlier.

From April 1 to Sept. 29 this year, the Southeast Asian country earned over $7.58 billion from exports, while its imports totalled over $8.4 billion, the ministry's figures showed.

During the period, manufactured goods topped the export list with the most value, earning over $4.83 billion, followed by agricultural products with a value of $1.57 billion.

The country's maritime trade totalled over $11.24 billion, while its border trade amounted to $4.73 billion in the cited period.

Myanmar does most of its foreign trade through sea routes as it has a long coastline. Its major trade partners include China, Thailand, Bangladesh and India.
