HANOI (Xinhua): The biometric authentication system for flight check-in will be applied at all airports in Vietnam from November, local media reported on Friday, citing the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

The system which is applicable to passengers using electronic ID cards includes fingerprint scans, electronic ID card reader devices, cameras and facial recognition at security checkpoints.

This method has been run on a trial basis at some airports since early this year.

From August 2, the CAAV deployed level 2 electronic identification (VNeID) authentication for air passengers on domestic flights at all airports nationwide, Vietnam News Agency reported.

VNeID is equivalent to a Vietnamese citizen's identity card, while it is equivalent to a foreigner's passport or international travel document. - Xinhua
