BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Brunei Magistrate’s Court has sentenced an Indonesian woman to three months’ jail and ordered her to settle a BND500 fine after she pleaded guilty to overstaying in the country.

Samiatun, 58, would have to serve an additional month’s jail in default of payment of the fine.

Immigration Prosecutor Zul Azri bin Haji Ranee revealed in court that Samiatun was arrested by a team of immigration enforcement officers at a food stall in Kampong Lambak Kiri on October 11.

Senior Magistrate Harnita Zelda Skinner further heard that officers had found the defendant holding an expired immigration pass. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
