Brunei committed to providing quality education to all its people, says minister

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei remains committed to meeting the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 by providing quality and holistic education for all, said Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah Mohd Salleh.

The minister, as the Chairperson for the National Commission of Brunei Darussalam for the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), was speaking at UNESCO’s 42nd Session of the General Conference in Paris, France. The general conference, which discusses policy and activities of the organisation, ends on November 22.

The minister highlighted the Sultanate’s Ministry of Education Strategic Plan for 2023-2027, which has three overarching objectives: the pursuit of a future-ready workforce, enhancing an innovative education ecosystem and developing human resources.

The minister also attended the High-Level Segment and the High-Level Ministerial Dialogue on Education for Peace, held on the sidelines of the conference.

Meanwhile, Brunei Darussalam will be represented at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum on November 14-15 by university student Awangku Muhammad Adam Pengiran Ahmad.

The forum serves as a platform for youth to engage, debate and share recommendations and solutions on the social impacts of climate change. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
