Brunei's CPI decreases by 0.1 per cent in August

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Brunei's overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August decreased by 0.1 per cent year-on-year, the latest statistical figures released on Saturday have shown.

According to the country's Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the CPI drop was in line with the decrease in the Non-Food index by 0.6 percent, which was driven by the drop in Transport (3.5 per cent), Communication (3.1 per cent), and Clothing and Footwear (1.3 per cent).

The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index has registered an increase of 1.7 per cent.

For period-on-period changes, the overall CPI from January to August registered an increase of 0.5 per cent compared to the same period last year. - Xinhua
