VIENTIANE (Xinhua): The Lao National Productivity Festival is taking place in the Lao capital Vientiane to raise awareness of achievements under the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), especially important goals specified in the APO Vision 2025.

The event was hosted by the Small and Medium Enterprise Department of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Nov. 23-25, according to a statement released by the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Friday.

Attendees will learn about the importance of productive work for national development, effective implementation, competitive ability of businesses and the workforce, as well as the development of personnel throughout the Asia-Pacific region, especially to support fulfilment of the goals set under the APO Vision 2025.

The event will create a deep understanding of the direction and form of sustainable productivity so that participants can learn and share knowledge and experiences to improve production and management processes by applying innovation in socio-economic development.

There will also be a forum on the productivity for the development of small and medium enterprises and the economy as well as the need to comply with certification standards and boost quality standards in order to gain access to more domestic and international markets. - Xinhua
