BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The participation of 288 Indonesian scouts at this year’s jamboree shows Indonesian scouts are involved in promoting a positive image of Indonesia, contributing to the country’s soft diplomacy efforts abroad, said Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Achmad Ubaedillah at the opening ceremony of the 5th Brunei Darussalam National Jamboree.

The jamboree was held at Bukit Bendera in Tutong District from Dec 2-7.

The 5th jamboree, organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Scout Association (PPNBD), carried the theme ‘Boyscout on the move’.

The jamboree was attended by more than 800 participants from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand with Indonesia being the largest scout contingent after the host.

Following the event, the Indonesian contingent from West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan departed Brunei by land on Dec 7, while the remaining took their leave on Dec 9.

The upcoming jamboree will be hosted by Malaysia, followed by Singapore. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
