Myanmar to hold traditional boxing contest to mark Independence Day


YANGON: Myanmar will hold a traditional boxing competition in Yangon to mark the 76th anniversary of the country's Independence Day, the Myanmar Lethwei Federation said on Friday (Dec 29).

The federation's chief executive officer U Kyaw Zin Oo told Xinhua that two Thai contestants will also compete in the competition, which will be held at the Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium on Jan 4.

The event is jointly organised by the Yangon government and the Myanmar Lethwei Federation, and all matches in the contest will abide by Myanmar's traditional boxing rules.
