Vietnam parliament to hold extraordinary meeting next week; govt aims to speed up economic reforms

HANOI (Reuters): Vietnam's National Assembly, the country's lawmaking body, will start a four-day extraordinary meeting next Monday, the government said on Monday.

The lawmakers are expected to ratify amended laws on land and credit institutions and issue measures to speed up the implementation of some "national objectives", the government said in a statement.

According to a draft of the amended law on credit institutions, authorities are seeking to reduce ownership of an individual and a corporate investor at a bank to ward off cross-ownership in the banking system.

The meeting will also discuss additional medium-term investment plans for state utility EVN.
