Vietnam's aviation sector to serve a whopping 84.2 million passengers in 2024


HANOI (Xinhua): Vietnam's aviation sector is expected to serve about 84.2 million passengers this year, up 15 per cent from 2023 and six per cent from 2019 when the Covid-19 pandemic emerged, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has announced.

The market is forecast to fully recover in late 2024, closely tied to the positive trajectory of the Asia-Pacific, said the authority.

The number of international passengers is set at 42.7 million, representing increases of 15.8 per cent and 6.4 per cent as compared with 2023 and 2019, respectively, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The sector will handle 1.16 million tons of cargo in 2024, up 8.5 per cent year-on-year and equivalent to 92.2 per cent of the 2019 figure, according to the authority.

The country's aviation sector served 74 million passengers in 2023, up 34.5 per cent compared to 2022. - Xinhua
