BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 100 cyclists from across the nation gathered at the open field of the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) to participate in a 27-kilometre journey across the Belait District in celebration of the 40th National Day on Sunday (Feb 25) morning.

Acting Belait District Officer Amirol Hafidzin Muhammad led the group of cyclists, accompanied by Penghulu of Mukim Kuala Belait Abdul Afiq Zainuddin and Acting Village Head of Kampong Pekan Kuala Belait ‘B’ Mohammad Sufrizal Hamdan.

Following a safety briefing, the group departed from the field and headed towards Pekan Belait with a break near Tudong Saji for a photo opportunity before turning back to BSRC.

After arriving at the venue, the Acting Belait District Officer and guests handed over lucky draw prizes to the cyclists.

Organised by the Belait District Office and the Mukim Consultative Council of Mukim Kuala Belait, in collaboration with the Belait Cycling Club, BSRC and Sports Alliance, the fun ride served to not only enliven the 40th National Day celebration but to also establish closer relations between cyclists in sharing the same passion for cycling as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle.
