Cambodian cops arrest Phnom Penh man for sextortion and death threats

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): A man in Cambodia's capital has been arrested after threatening to post candid nude photographs on social media – as well as making death threats against his victim.

According to the report of the professional officer of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, on May 3, 2024, a suspect was arrested by the specialized force for making threats to post nude pictures as well as violence, death threats and extortion.

In this operation, in accordance with the order of Lt. Gen. Chuon Narin, Deputy Commissioner and Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commissioner, on May 2, 2024, Lt. Gen. Chan Kittikhom, Deputy Commissioner for Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Minors and Gender Affairs assigned Director of Office Hak Ly to lead a professional force to investigate and crack down on cases of posting nude photos, using violence, threatening to kill and threatening to take money.

The operation saw cops arrest one suspect at a rented house in 100 villages in Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, after receiving a complaint from the victim on April 23, 2024.

The suspect has been named as Sok Kea Lay Sear, male, living in a rented house in 100 villages, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok.

The suspect is currently being investigated by the Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. - Khmer Times
