MANILA: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on Wednesday (May 8) said that his administration was able to release nearly P60 billion in health emergency allowances (HEA) to Covid-19 frontliners.

In a Facebook post late Tuesday night, Marcos said the government made the move to show how it values its frontliners.

“Following our promise, our administration was able to provide P59.8 billion or 78.92 per cent of the Covid health emergency allowance to our hero frontliners.” Marcos said.

Marcos said the announcement comes as the nation observes the Health Workers’ Day.

The President said during the pandemic, Filipino healthcare workers were able to show that they could serve wholeheartedly, displaying Filipino excellence.

However, some of them still have yet to receive their allowances. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
