Asean countries discuss measures to enhance early childhood care, education

VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Education ministers from the member states of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (Asean) and senior officials gathered here earlier this week discussing practices and policies aimed at improving early childhood care and education.

The ministers convened for the Asean Ministerial Meeting on Ensuring Equal Access to Quality Early Childhood Development and Care, and related meetings.

Speaking at the meeting, Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong said this meeting is a platform to share lessons learned and enable participants to learn from each other's experience for the better development of early childhood education.

Asean cooperation has been successful step by step, especially in the field of education, he said.

"We will continue to cooperate to move forward together in line with the Asean Community Vision 2025 and Asean Work Plan on Education 2021-2025. We must work closely to build strength and happiness for our community," he added. - Xinhua
