Filipino boxing icon Pacquiao calls on Hun Manet

PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Thursday (May 30) received a courtesy call from Filipino world boxing icon and former senator Manny Pacquiao as the latter is visiting the country.

"Welcome Mr Manny Pacquiao to Cambodia," Hun Manet wrote in a text posted on his social media, with a photograph (pic) showing him shaking hands with the boxing superstar.

"His visit will contribute to the promotion of sports, tourism, and the Cambodia-Philippines relations through people-to-people connectivity," he said.

Pacquiao is visiting Cambodia to support the "Hanuman Kun Khmer" kickboxing event, which will take place on Friday at the Diamond Island in the capital Phnom Penh.

This is Pacquiao's second visit to Cambodia. He first came in 2016 when he accompanied the then-Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to visit the kingdom. - Xinhua
